The symbol/mascot of Freising is a bear; some years before my first visit a number of bear statues were created and decorated to celebrate the 1250th anniversary of the town.  Many are still displayed near local businesses.

This bear is at Hofbrauhaus Freising–no relation to the one in Munich that exports beer to the USA, it’s more than 400 years older.  The bottle caps are from Huber Weisses, a wheat beer made with recipe from a tavern in the Altstadt; the logo is a polar bear.  It’s quite tasty.

Bonus pic: Huber Weisses glasses, so you can see the logo.

We built a 2m-high cupboard with glass doors just to show these off.
