Christkindlmärkte: München

More soaking rain on the day we went to München, so I didn’t have my camera out at all.  Please enjoy some bad phone pictures and a couple of guest photos.

We started at the main market at the Marienplatz and enjoyed a mug of Glühwein while we waited for the famous Glockenspiel (link contains spoilers).

Neues Rathaus--Glockenspiel is to the bottom

After the noon show we wandered through the stalls a bit on the way to a lovely hot lunch at Andechser am Dom.

At the Residenz we enjoyed the huts with animatronic fairy tales

and some Bratwurst that was half a meter long (~19 inches).

Attention Iowa State Fair vendors: Get on this.

Next stop was the Middle-Ages Market in the Wittelsbacherplatz that Roland and I have enjoyed in previous years, but it was raining pretty hard so we repaired to Cafe Luitpold for cake (I can recommend a slice of Luitpoldtorte, which has wine in the cream), and then back to Freising.
