The 88th annual Freisinger Volksfest is underway. Thursday I went just after lunch and took a couple hundred photos. Here is my themed sampler. General disclaimer: I think some of these characters may be unlicensed. I’m also fascinated by the light bulbs–older rides and games use regular light bulbs and… Read more »
Bad Cellphone Photo™ today of The Meat-Machine. One thing that is very different about life here compared to Iowa or Indiana is there are no 24-hour shops. Big chain stores close at 8 p.m., as required by by Bavarian law, and small local shops close at 6 (or earlier on… Read more »

Lovely clouds between Freising and the Alps–this photo was taken at the ruins of a chapel on the south side of the Weihenstephanberg, near where St. Korbinian discovered a source of holy, healing water in the 8th century. The building in the foreground is at the Munich airport.

Occasionally when the weather is just right, in the midafternoon I can see the Alps as I walk to school.
Crappy cell phone pictures today, because I haven’t been carrying my big camera around much on routine missions. First up: There was a Weihnachtsmarkt in the Freising Marienplatz last weekend–mostly local handmade items and stalls supporting local organizations. Not very big or fancy, but neither is Freising 🙂 So Saturday… Read more »
