Lovely clouds between Freising and the Alps–this photo was taken at the ruins of a chapel on the south side of the Weihenstephanberg, near where St. Korbinian discovered a source of holy, healing water in the 8th century. The building in the foreground is at the Munich airport.

New Year’s Eve in Germany is called Silvester, as Dec 31 is the feast day of a pope by that name. Why him and not Felis silvestris? I’m not sure.
